In addition, Elphinstone offers niche manufacturing and engineering support in the transport and utilities sectors.
Elphinstone has more than 45 years of experience in modifying and manufacturing underground mining vehicles and currently employs 200+ highly skilled people.
The product range includes specialised underground support vehicles and surface mining solutions, including extended-distance off-highway haulage trucks and water tanks to suit Caterpillar articulated trucks.
The Elphinstone range of underground support vehicles includes agitators, scissor lifts, delivery trucks, flat decks, fuel and lube trucks, water cannons, water tanks, motor graders, and other specialised support equipment.
The existing range of products combines practical design, the latest technology, and quality manufacturing to ensure each machine is safe, reliable, productive, ergonomic, and easy to service, maintain, and rebuild.
Elphinstone has built on this experience to enter the Defence industry and is now seeking expertise to deliver our first major Defence manufacturing contract.
Elphinstone is seeking to employ a CNC Machinist / Programmer to program and operate CNC milling machines in line with technical models and drawings to match our customer & quality standards working at our Wynyard Tasmania, Australia site.
About the Role
We currently have a role available within our Defence manufacturing department based at our Wynyard, Tasmania site.
The role is a hands-on operations role and will report to our Manufacturing Lead.
Key tasks will include:
Offline programming CNC machines Machine setup and operation Adjust machine tool paths and settings to optimize production while maintaining quality Read and interpret drawings and technical information Lead the machinist team About You
We are looking for an individual who can work to timeframes efficiently and safely and take pride in their work.
You will also demonstrate integrity, respect, teamwork, and ownership.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
Relevant Trade or Engineering Qualification (Certificate 3 and above) Significant experience in CNC machining and programming A high level of attention to detail Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions Ability to work within target production timeframes Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives Good computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office At Elphinstone, our most important asset is our people.
