Mining - Engineering & Maintenance (Mining, Resources & Energy) Full time Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited.
Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China.
Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West.
It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our site-based Assets & Projects team, tasked with ensuring engineering projects are implemented at the Karara Mine site and Port Export Terminal.
To be successful in this role, a demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Civil engineering principles and application of sound, practical project management processes for brownfields projects is required.
This role operates on an 8 days on and 6 days off continuous day shift roster.
To be successful in this role the following is essential: A Civil Engineering DegreeA demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Civil engineering principles and practical project management processes for brownfields projectsProject experience of Tailings Storage Facilities (desirable)Solid knowledge and experience in general civil engineering design and constructionSignificant experience in the mining industry with strong time management and organisational skillsExcellent planning, people management, organisations skills and time managementAbility to prioritise and work well under pressureStrong communication and relationship building skillsA current National Police clearanceTo be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia. Key Duties: Manage Karara's capital projects that relate to civil engineering discipline, including development/review of scope of works, technical specifications and QA/QC requirements, provide technical input/support during the tender process, project planning, execution and completion of the whole project lifecycleProvide technical advice support for projects and improvement to Mine site and Port operationsEnsure projects are implemented to civil and structural engineering content in the scope of work and comply with Australian Standards, statutory and regulatory requirements and company policiesSupport the development of procurement/construction/commissioning processes and strategies to meet project requirements for quality, schedule and budgetLiaise with internal and external parties and support other engineering disciplines and other project functions to ensure overall project goals are metAbout Karara Mining Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia, Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years.
The operation includes a large open-pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
As part of the logistics network, Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
