Job ResponsibilitiesProvide a range of services to promote wellbeing of young peopleAccess excellent learning and development opportunitiesAbout the BusinessOur Safer Family Services team delivers a range of services, including intensive family support and multi-agency responses, to help children stay safely at home with their families and avoid the need for out-of-home care.
They also help families with parenting support, workshops and connection to community events and initiatives to improve child safety and wellbeing.Strong Start provides advice, information and support to first-time mothers who are experiencing challenges in their lives that can impact on their child's development.
Field workers will visit first-time pregnant mothers in their home and support new families to address problems like stable housing, mental health, drug or alcohol issues and will assist first-time mothers to attend their appointments during pregnancy.The program aims to work with families to increase their ability to 'be available' for their infant by:• supporting parents to manage their own health issues• providing developmental opportunities for the infant, including access to childcare• developing the relationship between the parent and their infant• increasing the support network for the family in their local community.The Supervisor, Strong Start liaises with and collaborates with senior managers, staff and external stakeholders and develops strong links with key partners to ensure comprehensive and quality program outcomes for vulnerable parents, and provides leadership, training, support and mentoring to staff as required.
The Supervisor will build strong networks with key service providers and will consult with relevant staff across DHS, SA Health, Department for Child Protection (DCP), and Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS).
The Supervisor is responsible for the provision of operational, professional and clinical leadership to staff to ensure the delivery of family support services for families where significant indicators of family and infant vulnerability have been identified and provide specialised advice to the senior management on operational, professional issues and systemic processes.
