LEAD CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST - GAMBLING TREATMENT AND RESEARCH CLINIC Full time or part time (28hrs/per week), fixed term until 30th June 2026.
Located at the Brain and Mind Centre on the Camperdown Campus. Opportunity to be part of the leadership team within the Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic and guide clinical practice in reducing gambling harms.About the opportunity The School of Psychology is welcoming applications for a Lead Clinical Psychologist to oversee the clinical service offerings for the GambleAware services across Sydney Central, Western Sydney, Blue Mountains, and South West Sydney as part of Australia's only university-based gambling treatment clinic.
The role is to lead and manage an experienced team of clinicians, including clinical psychologists, financial counsellors, community engagement officers, and intake officers, in addition to overseeing clinical interns, and working with the Director and Clinic Manager to oversee the Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic (GTRC) treatment services and professional development.
Working closely with the Clinic Director Professor Sally Gainsbury and Clinic Manager, the successful candidate will be required to oversee the provision of clinical services, clinical supervision, training, and clinical governance oversight within the GTRC, as well as providing leadership to other clinicians.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers conducting clinically-oriented research evaluating practice outcomes and developing innovative clinical offerings including educational modules and digital stepped care interventions to prevent and reduce gambling harms.
Gambling treatment experience is not essential, and there is no travel required for this role.
We would consider Part-Time for the right candidate, and flexible work arrangements including work-from-home options will be available.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Oversee the provision of psychological assessment and treatment for clients of the GTRC.Work as part of the leadership team with the Director and Clinic Manager to oversee the strategic direction, delivery of services, and contribute to reporting requirements.Work with a degree of autonomy in promoting the objectives and activities of the GTRC in the areas of clinical assessment, interventions, and protocols.Ensure reporting and compliance requirements for the clinical aspects of the GTRC are met to University of Sydney Clinical Governance and to the funder.Oversee the Community Engagement work of the GTRC with support from the Clinic Manager.Support research and teaching efforts integrated within the Clinic.About you The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity.

Postgraduate qualifications relevant for Clinical Psychology.Accreditation as an approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia endorsements as a clinical psychologist with AHPRA.Experience in the supervision, training, mentoring, and performance management of clinical psychology interns and staff.The willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) on appointment.Superior knowledge of clinical practices, including an understanding of Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and an ability to apply quality control procedures.Extensive experience in people leadership, engagement, and management, ideally within the higher education and/or health sector.Experience in research including clinically-oriented research and treatment evaluations (desirable).Experience in the treatment and assessment of gambling (desirable).To apply for this position, please address the following statement in a cover letter that you attach with your application: Please specify whether you are interested in applying for Full-Time or Part-Time.If applying for Part-Time, please note that we require a minimum of 4 x days per week (28 hours).Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
