We are seeking a full-time Trainee Water and Sewer Operator to join the team
This is an entry-level opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience whilst studying to gain qualifications.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the operation and maintenance of Council's water and sewerage treatment systems, networks, and equipment to ensure compliance with health, environmental, and customer service requirements and standards.
The aim of the position is to train and develop the successful applicant to become a qualified and competent Water and Sewer Operator.
The trainee will assist the water & sewer team with day-to-day operations and maintenance works to gain experience and understanding of water supply and sewerage activities including construction works.
This is a term role of two years, whilst you work towards gaining a Certificate III Water Industry Operations (11 units of competency).
This role may include work on weekends and public holidays. To view a detailed list of responsibilities, please review the Position Description.
Candidate Profile Our ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the water & sewerage industry and undertaking the required study.
You will be willing to contribute to a cohesive team environment and maintain positive relationships.
Commitment to Work, Health and Safety principles and applying these in all aspects of your daily work duties is also crucial to succeeding in this role.
You will possess high attention to detail and demonstrate good time management skills.
The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to work, an eagerness to learn, and be physically fit to undertake the inherent requirements of the job.

Commencing salary is as per Band 1 / Level 1 of the Local Government (State) Award 2023 - T1-T10 depending on age of the successful candidate.
