Serves Auburn, Blacktown, The Hills Shire, Holroyd, and Parramatta LGAs.Provides tertiary care for the Greater Western Region.Committed to collaboration, openness, respect, and empowerment.Focuses on primary and secondary health care.Aims for better health services for western Sydney and beyond.What you'll be doing The WSLHD Needle and Syringe Program is seeking a dedicated professional to address the specific health needs of Aboriginal people with respect to Hepatitis C prevention and illicit drug use.
This role involves program development, cultural expertise, and community advocacy.
In this role you will:
Develop, facilitate, and evaluate programs for Aboriginal communities within the Needle and Syringe Program (NSP).Provide cultural expertise and support to the NSP team and wider Drug Health workforce.Represent the NSP in promoting Aboriginal health needs within the community.Deliver outreach services across WSLHD NSP sites.Focus on prevention and care of blood-borne viruses among injecting drug users.This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in the community while working in a collaborative and dynamic healthcare environment.

Exemption is claimed under section 14d of the anti-discrimination act 1977.A minimum of Certificate 3 in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or equivalent and experience as a health worker / health promotion worker in the government or non-government sectorAn understanding of Harm MinimisationKnowledge of blood borne viruses such as HIV, HCV and HBVNon-judgemental and empathic approach to people who inject drugsAn understanding of Health Promotion and Community developmentAn ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary teamExperience working with marginalised groups within a Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) or other relevant service.Current NSW Driver's LicenceRequisition ID: REQ514032Applications Close: 28th November 2024
