Our Property, Casualty, Technical & Special Risks team is a highly esteemed provider of adjusting and technical services.
Our team comprises of chartered loss adjusters, engineers, surveyors, insurance practitioners, arbitrators, mediators, lawyers, registered expert witnesses, and chartered accountants.
Leveraging a global, multi-disciplinary approach to major losses, we deliver solutions for complex, high-value cases with a positive and proactive mindset, regardless of size.
The Role This position can be based in Sydney / Brisbane / Melbourne.
We currently have an opportunity to appoint a liability loss adjusting team leader who will be responsible for a team of liability adjusters who provide liability claims loss adjusting services, predominantly to insurance companies, Mutuals, MGA's, Lloyd's Syndicates and brokers.
This person will also be part of CTA Australia Leadership Team, responsible for:
Managing, developing, retaining and growing CTA Australia's liability team.
Meeting financial targets of the team.
The quality of technical service delivery.
Meeting operational performance criteria.
Key Responsibilities Day-to-day management of the liability loss adjusters (currently 12), which includes:Setting objectives (technical development, service delivery, financial targets, mentoring other staff etc.)
Ensuring claims (non-direct instructions) are allocated to the right person with the right skill set and available capacity and actioned in a timely manner Workload Management: adjusters are meeting the required service levels and avoid individuals becoming over-stretched Ensure the team are working cohesively and supporting each other – instil and maintain a culture of collaboration and teamwork Agreeing development needs and action plans to improve skill sets / experience levels e.g.
implementing mentor / mentee arrangements, training programmes (either team wide or individually) Building strong relationships with adjusters and ensure they consistently receive a high standard of support and resolve issues which inhibit their ability to provide a superior service to clients.
Holding regular meetings to review and address performance, discuss and agree client development activities and share information which is relevant to the team.
Regular availability to the team, often outside normal business hours Technical Service Delivery and Operational Management
Implement and maintain a mentoring process which includes proactive loss management oversite and report reviews.
Support and drive the Path development program (the Path) to ensure development of less senior, younger liability adjusters.
As required, from time to time, support adjusters with training implementation and delivery (new systems, IT, compliance and regulatory, technical training etc.)
Ensure adjusters meet client service level requirements where appropriate and, with the assistance of the Ops team, manage operational discipline of the team (time sheet completion, WIP management and billing, expense submission, policy compliance etc.)
Business Development
Maintain a market presence as senior technical liability adjuster Ensure the team, in conjunction with the client team, engages in appropriate business development and marketing activities, (ongoing interaction with and relationship management of Insurer and broker clients and driving thought leadership activities) Be alert to and assist the other local and global business heads in growing new and expanded opportunities outside of general liability.
Manage own Loss Adjusting Case Load
Secure and competently manage a case load of complex claim assignments Other
Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.

Required Skills A demonstrated track record of building and growing a highly successful team of professionals.
The ability to further develop and retain an industry leading, high performing team – soft skills - is essential (this strength is considered a higher priority than technical skills).
We are seeking a proven, effective and inspiring leader, who is able to quickly pull people together and create a positive / strong team environment and can be relied on to always lead by example Minimum of 10 years Loss Adjusting/Claims Management Experience Ability to interact with clients and loss adjusters at a technical and personal level.
Experience in providing technical development, operations and business development support in a managerial role A great team player, who can use their initiative but also knows when to seek guidance before an issue turns into a big problem Technical loss adjusting and operational management skills, Demonstrates attention to detail and a desire to get things done "Right First Time".
