Our vision is one of equity and excellence in a progressive, high performing education system that realises the potential of every student.About The RoleAs the Principal Policy Officer you will:Contribute to the development of policy initiatives and implementation strategies to ensure the achievement of outcomes against key priorities for strengthening student engagement.Lead and participate in teams and activities within Early Childhood and State Schools Division to effectively develop and implement strategic policy and initiatives for the schooling sector.Responsibilities Includeprovide expert student inclusion content advice and support to senior officers of the department with respect to the development and implementation of statewide strategic policy initiatives.prepare and provide expert advice, responses, submissions, briefings and correspondence to complex and sensitive issues and concerns.undertake research, analysis, monitoring, review and evaluation of significant policies and projects.establish effective networks and liaise, communicate and coordinate with key personnel to achieve outcomes.participate in the development of, and promote the use of, key communication channels to facilitate required professional development activities for school and regional office personnel.design high quality resource documents for distribution/publication.create infographic summaries of data sets and research translation.write contracts and contract variations.conduct and manage procurement and tender processes.proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Adobe Creative Software an advantage.Highly Advantageous Skillsknowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of best practice, legislation, policies and trends in improving outcomes for students with disability, student inclusion, behaviour or student wellbeing, with a proven ability to prepare related reports and submissions at a senior level.exceptional writer and consultation skills to present messages in a clear and concise manner, with the ability to apply negotiation and consultation skills to contribute to collaborative solutions and implement appropriate strategic responses.a record of leadership and proven capacity to develop strategic policy, guidelines and implementation strategieshigh level research and analytical skills, with a proven ability to initiate, implement, monitor and report on complex projects within set timeframes.record of contribution to and achievement of, strategies and initiatives to support the achievement of work unit outcomes including the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and clients.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.To ApplyAttach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant work history) Attach a 2-page written statement in response to the attached role description.
