Mackay - Disability Youth Worker

Southern Cross Support Services (SCSS) is a leading Child Safety provider throughout QLD. Children, Youth & Family Services (CYF) are seeking dedicated Disability Support Workers who are eager to transition into the youth sector and make a difference in the lives of young people.
This role offers a unique chance to apply your transferable skills in a new and exciting setting, supporting, and empowering young individuals to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities: Provide compassionate and person-centred support to young people with diverse needs and abilities.Foster a safe and nurturing environment contributing to growth and development.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create tailored support plans and interventions.Empower individuals to build essential life skills and promote independence.Use daily routines to provide hands-on training for life skills such as cooking, personal care, and budgeting. What we're looking for: Experience in disability support work or a related field.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference.Ability to adapt to the unique needs and challenges of young people.
CYF programs operate 24/7 which includes shift work (sleepovers, weekends, and possibly awake shifts).
Requirements prior to commencement: Blue Card for Working with Children (currently hold or be eligible to apply for)NDIS Worker Screening (currently hold or be eligible to apply for)Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS2)Hold or be willing to enrol in a Cert 4 or higher recognised qualificationDriver's licence (P2 minimum)Hope & Healing modulesSmartphone with internet accessCPR Certificate (willing to obtain)
