MWM is an environmental consultancy that provides practical geochemical solutions to mine waste management, for the mining industry.
Our clients are predominantly based in Australia and New Zealand with projects throughout South Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, North America, and beyond.
Specific Duties: The successful candidate will be a technically proficient Environmental Geochemist with the ability to solve problems, communicate technical solutions to non-technical professionals, and a contributor to the continued growth of MWM.
Duties will be performed in line with either your role as an Intermediate or Senior team member, including:
Developing sampling and analysis programs, liaising with commercial laboratories on the execution and delivery of the analysis programs, collating laboratory data and undertaking quality assurance and quality control assessments, completing analysis and interpretation of laboratory data, and producing consolidated assessment reports. Completing waste rock and tailings characterisation assessments to identify potential hazards and opportunities associated with geological material mined. Developing practical mined materials management plans, which are aimed at managing identified hazards and opportunities to enable successful post-mining rehabilitation Work closely with a number of supporting disciplines, including Mining Engineers, Metallurgists, Mine Geologists, Exploration Geologists Closure Planners, Hydrogeologists, and Environmental Scientists, to complete mineral waste assessments of a variety of mineral deposit types. Develop proposals and provide deliverables to our clients that provide excellent client support on time and within budget. As required, peer review company reports and other deliverables, support and mentor Junior Staff, and develop business opportunities for MWM with previous, current, and new clients. Support business development for MWM by attending conferences and presenting technical papers, which may require domestic and international travel. Travel for work related activities for domestic and international clients and related project work, including site visits and field programs. Skills and Experience: The successful candidate will preferably have:
Have post-graduate level qualifications (e.g., MSc, MEng, PhD) in an environmental geoscience related field with tertiary qualifications in geology, chemistry, or similar. Have multiple years' experience working as a consultant providing environmental geochemistry related services to clients within the mining industry. Have experience in project management. Be proficient in the use of MS Office applications, particularly MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Job Type: Full-time
