If you're looking for a fulfilling role in a team that is enabling critical infrastructure for communities large and small, we'd love to hear from youPosition Summary:The Electrical Controls Technician (ECT) is an Electrician with expertise in industrial control applications and CAD-based electrical drawing. Working in the municipal water and wastewater industry, the ECT is responsible for surveying existing motor control cabinets and instrumentation, creating detailed electrical drawings of control panels and how they will integrate with the surveyed field equipment, as well as installing, wiring, and starting up the completed panels. While this role does not involve programming PLCs, it does require a strong understanding of electrical systems, dry-contact control loops, 4-20mA analog signals, and physically integrating equipment to PLCs. The ability to interpret technical specifications and requirements as well as document them is critical.Job Duties:Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams of industrial control systems for project submittals based on the project's quoted materials and labor.Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and requirements.Review technical documents, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials when integration with control systems deviates from initial design.Execute Product Acceptance Tests (PATs) on panels as they are produced, and work with SCADA Controls Technicians (SCTs - PLC programmers) to resolve any issues discovered.Assist installation crews as needed, with installation of panels and their enclosures.Terminate wiring from field devices to control panels, and test operation. In some instances, termination or modification may need to be performed on the field equipment as well.Fully document the completion and startup of the panel at the customer's location and update project drawings and documentation to an as-built status.Troubleshoot network, digital, and 4-20mA analog control and monitoring circuits.Competencies Needed to Support the Following Core ValuesMake it SIMPLE & EASY for our customers.People first: PROACTIVE & EMPOWERED.HONESTY, HUMILITY & INTEGRITY in everything we do.Never mistake ACTIVITY FOR ACHIEVEMENT.REPUTATION above all.Committed to CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.Job Requirements:Experience as an electrician and electrical draftsperson, preferably in public utility, manufacturing, or industrial environment.Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, BricsCAD) for creating electrical drawings and ladder-style schematics.Understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and components commonly used in industrial control systems.Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA) pertaining to electrical design and installation.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing technical drawings and documentation.Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot electrical issues and discrepancies in drawings.Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime as needed, and travel to various job sites as needed to meet project requirements and deadlines.Driver's license with clean, insurable driving record.Education Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field is preferred.Physical Demands:Body Positions: Includes standing, sitting, walking, lifting (up to 60 lbs), talking and hearing safety alerts.Work will be a combination of indoors in a temperature-controlled environment and job sites outdoors in hot or cold temperatures.Typical office environment noise level is low to moderate, though hearing protection and other personal protective equipment will be required on some job sites.Company Description: Data Flow Systems, Inc. (DFS) is an established SCADA company located in Melbourne, Florida. DFS provides SCADA systems to water-related utilities for remote monitoring and control. The SCADA systems are designed and manufactured by DFS in Melbourne. Throughout the Southeastern US and Texas, SCADA systems are installed and serviced directly by DFS personnel.
