Director Commercial - Contracts & Supply Excellent Salary with STI & LTI Bonus Structure

Our global operations are located in two of the world's largest and most productive metallurgical coal basins, the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia and the Central Appalachian region of the US.

As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Commercial Director to lead and shape the long-term strategy and future of contract management within our Australian operations.

This is a pivotal role at the intersection of business operations and commercial strategy, directly impacting our long-term success.
With a deep understanding of complex contract management and negotiation, the Commercial Director will play a critical role in safeguarding and maximising the value of our assets and partnerships.
As part of our senior leadership team, you will drive best practices, foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure our contracts support sustainable growth and resilience within our Australian operations.

About The Role
Liaise with internal stakeholder/s to identify procurement and service requirements (including scope of works) and ensure final goods or service delivery meets their needs.
This includes assessing demand management which drives supply analysis/strategy, supplier identification, sourcing execution, contract negotiation, delivery planning and monitoring and purchase execution.
Lead a team of senior sourcing and procurement professionals, who will work with business units to ensure effective centralised direct and indirect sourcing and procurement outcomes.
Establish relationships with senior budget holders to ensure that procurement is aligned with their objectives, and to enlist their support in participating in supply base improvement efforts.
Develop and execute the procurement strategy and increase spend under management, identifying and evolving best practices and transforming the organisation capability and value delivery.
Manage business contract risk oversight, performance and reporting.
Manage business process outsourcing activities.
Identify cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities.
Select and manage procurement systems.
Lead the procurement team in (and across) sourcing, contracting, transactional purchasing, supplier management, and internal procurement support activities.
About You
Extensive senior supply management and operational experience.
Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury and risk management.
In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices.
Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
Proven track record in inspiring and leading a high-performing team, aligning their efforts with the company's long-term strategic goals and navigating through the complexities.
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills to use for large scale commercial deals.
Analytical mindset, but also creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches that have historically "boxed-in" procurement.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
