Executive General Manager, Information Rights (multiple locations considered) The Executive General Manager, Information Rights is the OAIC senior leader responsible for ensuring members of the community can effectively access their information rights via various OAIC-delivered services, including privacy complaints, reviews of disputed FOI decisions of other government agencies, and public enquiries about FOI and privacy.
The Executive General Manager, Information Rights has dual leadership responsibilities within the OAIC:
Leading the OAIC's Information Rights Division, which consists of three branches (FOI Case Management, Privacy Case Management, and Intake and Triage).
Acting as deputy head of jurisdiction for either FOI or privacy at the OAIC, and in that capacity, serving as deputy to either the FOI Commissioner or Privacy Commissioner.
Duties of the role Key responsibilities of the role include:
Leading the FOI Case Management, Privacy Case Management, and Intake and Triage branches, enhancing approaches to delivery while balancing competing demands on resources and engaging with risk to deliver the best outcomes for the community and position the OAIC for the future.
Initiating and overseeing the implementation of multiple, integrated change initiatives with outcomes that significantly impact communities, stakeholders and services, while working under high scrutiny.
Acting as deputy to one of the OAIC's Commissioners, which includes supporting the Commissioners in all aspects of their work, as required.
This includes representing the OAIC publicly, under parliamentary or other external scrutiny, with external stakeholders, and making complex and contested statutory decisions.
Ensuring the OAIC's delivery of services to the Australian community to promote and uphold access to information rights, including through leading process reform to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of privacy and FOI complaints, IC reviews, and other casework functions completed by the OAIC.
Leading the development of systems and processes to ensure teams and individuals within the Information Rights division are performing effectively and efficiently.
Effectively overseeing the appropriate expenditure of funds.
Guiding and directing the leadership group of the Information Rights Division to develop and nurture a high performing, multidisciplinary, collaborative and innovative culture across the division and the office that is aligned with OAIC's guiding principles.
Developing and overseeing the implementation of strategies (within and external to the OAIC) to reduce or eliminate the OAIC's backlog of casework.
Leading and overseeing critical stakeholder relationships including across government, in academia, the private sector and the Minister's Office, and ensuring staff across the Information Rights division are engaging effectively with stakeholders, positioning the OAIC as a trusted regulator.
Establishing and driving a strategic agenda that aligns with and supports the Commissioners' priorities and agency purpose.
