Elders Support Worker - Aboriginal Identified
Note : This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.
The Elders Support Worker is a key member of the Aged Care Team, responsible for delivering culturally sensitive and respectful support services to Aboriginal people.
This role focuses on providing holistic and client-centred support to individuals.
Key responsibilities include: Provide active participation, connection, and contribution opportunities for the participants within their home and local community. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents. Provide support with transportation and shopping. Contribute to a high quality of life alongside the people we support. Contribute to written documentation as required. Demonstrate experience and passion for caring for elders and families. Hold relevant tertiary qualifications. Possess a First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain). Provide a Certificate of Aboriginality. Have a current National Police Check. Have a current Working with Children Check NSW (or willingness to obtain). Possess a valid Australian Driver's License. Provide COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster information (or evidence of a valid medical exemption). Have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal clients, communities, and stakeholders. Communicate sensitively and effectively with clients. Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.
