Our Opportunity As our new Buyer (apparel), you will select and develop on trend, relevant products aligned to the Sportsgirl customer while enabling the department to achieve set sales plans, intake margins, planned markdowns and overall gross profit.
You will be working across both the buying and product development, communicating your creativity and entrepreneurship across your category.
Your agility and strong organisational skills will be on show as will your strong relationship building and influencing abilities.
Leading the Buying Assistant, you will work in partnership with them and have the opportunity to develop and mentor your BA to inspire high performance and business outcomes.
Your day-to-day will include: Buying merchandise ensuring you achieve budgeted sales results, meet gross profit targets and identify growth opportunitiesEnsuring OTB, margins and pricing strategy for department is being achievedDemonstrating an understanding of trends as they relate to the Sportsgirl customerReviewing and sign off all development and PP samples to ensure they meet Sportsgirl's quality fit and standardsRedesigning and interpreting overseas products and trends in line with Sportsgirl brand visionMentoring and leading the Buying AssistantBuilding strong internal and external stakeholder relationshipsBriefing supplier base clearly when requesting samples, and negotiating costs to ensure best priceAlways being an ambassador for the Sportsgirl brand and maintaining effective relationships internally and externallyTo be successful in this role, you must have: Fashion/Design/Merchandising diploma or Business/Commerce degreePrevious experience as designer, fashion buyer or product developerUnderstanding of buying and planning principalsStrong communication, leadership and mentoring skillsProven direct sourcing experienceStrong negotiation skills and commercial awarenessDemonstrated understanding of financial management including assortment planning and OTB managementSolid understanding of the local and international trendsWhy work for Sportsgirl?
