You have the flexibility to work from the office, home, or a mix of both—it's your choice.What you'd be doing in this roleAs a Staff Data Scientist in the Analytics Prototyping and Development (APD) team, you'll drive innovation by tackling complex, uncharted projects that have significant business impact.
Your work will involve developing solutions that push boundaries, supporting MarTech and Marketing Data initiatives, and addressing challenges that require both technical expertise and creative problem-solving.Your Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development of analytics and data science tooling, collaborating with data scientists and teams like the MarTech Product Group to deliver new capabilities for creative execution.Solve scope, technical and business challenges that arise in experimental, first-of-its-kind projects.Provide expertise in MarTech vendor management and technical system design.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and present tradeoffs in system designs, ensuring alignment with non-technical stakeholders.Quickly create and present technical documents and proposals to groups ranging from 30 to 60 attendees.Drive overarching signals work with marketing partners to improve advertising effectiveness.Advocate for ownership of signals by the right data teams, ensuring these critical assets are managed effectively and aligned with business needs.Support vendor security and legal assessments.Apply knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, Australian Privacy Principles, and other privacy regulations to ensure compliance.Collaborate with internal legal teams to align on data governance and privacy standards.Partner with engineering, marketing, and external vendors to address challenges and drive solutions that align with Canva's business goals.You're probably a match ifYou have a proven record of solving ambiguous problems and proactively uncovering hidden opportunities that drive business impact.You bring a strong technical background, with expertise in SQL and at least Python or R.You can quickly learn and apply new technical concepts to solve new problems, demonstrating adaptability and broad expertise.You are familiar with MarTech systems, data engineering and data product principles, and can communicate technical tradeoffs effectively to non-technical audiences.You are familiar with legal and privacy assessments, and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).You excel at delivering high impact business and technical communications, even under tight deadlines.You thrive in a trailblazing environment, bringing creativity and resilience to new projects and ideas.You have experience leading senior team members, driving their growth through advocacy, feedback, and empowering them to do their best work.About the teamAt Canva, the Analytics Prototyping and Development (APD) team is known for its high-impact, innovative projects that push the boundaries of what data can do.
