Details: The ACT Government Communication Unit is currently seeking Communication Advisers to join our team.
The ACT Government Communication Unit provides a holistic communication and engagement service to ACT Government Ministers.
The team supports the communication of ACT Government announcements across multiple channels, working closely with ACT Government Directorates on how to best engage with the Canberra community.
We are seeking people who are passionate about Canberra and want to be involved in issues that impact our city.
Key responsibilities of the role include: Working as part of an inclusive and cohesive team, contributing positively to workplace culture and promoting a safe and welcoming work environment in the Government Communication Unit and across the ACT Executive.Reporting to the Director, communication advisers support the Government's efforts to communicate across existing and emerging platforms including traditional media, social media and digital media.Providing strategic communications advice to relevant Ministers, including the use of digital media platforms.Developing and implementing communication strategies for relevant Ministers.Articulating the Government's agenda on a daily basis by developing strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and journalists.Working closely with Government officials and members of the Government Communication Unit on strategic communication and engagement activity that support Government priorities.Supporting the development of communications and messaging for relevant announcements.We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Applicants will need to demonstrate:
An ability to perform in a high-pressure environment with competing deadlines and priorities.High level oral and written communication skills.An understanding of the use of digital media platforms, including content creation and writing for online platforms.Excellent interpersonal, liaison and relationship management skills.Prior experience in managing sensitive and confidential issues.A tertiary qualification in communication, arts or journalism is required for these roles, as well as a minimum of three years experience in a communication or journalism position.
An understanding of the roles and functions of the ACT Government is preferred, but not essential.
Notes: There are several positions available.
The roles are for the term of the government and will be renumerated at the range of $110,708 to $121,533 depending on skills and experience, plus a 7% Legislative Assembly Members' (LAMS) Allowance and superannuation.
Position duties will be scoped depending on the level of the successful candidate.
