Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland.
The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward.
The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore. Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1300 students, including 120 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students. As one of the eight original Grammar schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time.
The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12. We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced, senior educator to head up the Mathematics Faculty at our Senior School.
We are seeking an energetic and inspiring individual with proven leadership skills and outstanding expertise in Mathematics.
The Head of Faculty - Mathematics is responsible for ensuring that the School's Mathematics program is effectively led, managed, and delivered to keep pace with the constantly changing educational landscape.
This opportunity offers an exceptional educator within the Mathematics learning area a combination of teaching and leadership responsibilities.
As a Teacher, you will foster a creative and inclusive classroom environment that encourages experimentation and innovation.
As a leader, you will be motivating and inspiring, providing direction and guidance to a wide array of staff within the faculty.
It will be your responsibility to drive a continuous improvement agenda and to foster the growth and development of the team in relation to Mathematics teaching and learning.
This will be evident in both your leadership practice and your classroom practice.
To be successful in this role you will be a leader who demonstrates both a passion for your subject and an understanding of the principles which underpin contemporary mathematics education.
You will also need to demonstrate the following key capabilities:
QCT Registration.High level of knowledge of current education trends and contemporary teaching pedagogy.In depth knowledge of the Queensland Curriculum.A proven ability to work positively and collaboratively with other teachers and build positive working relationships.A willingness to fully engage in the school community and get involved in extra-curricular activities offered.Committing to Pastoral Care and meeting the social and emotional wellbeing needs of students.A full position description is available from the School's website (www.tgs.qld.edu.au).
