Forensic Officer

Child Safety, Seniors, and Disability Services (DCSSDS) Permanent Full Time 42.33 to $46.41 per hour plus penalties and allowances 5 weeks recreation leave per year and up to 12.75% superannuation contributions. Delivering lifestyle and skills support for clients of the Forensic Disability Service and support clinical intervention / treatment programs.
The key responsibilities of the Forensic Officer are: Develop, implement and evaluate support plans to assist clients to develop and maintain life skills thereby increasing positive behaviours, improving quality of life and working towards a transition back to the community.
This will include supporting clients to develop skills required for independent everyday living such as leisure activities, meal preparation and cleaning. Monitor and observe clients who are at risk to self and others, able to identify and provide relevant information to the clinical team surrounding risk concerns. Support each client to achieve the goals within their Individual Development Plan (IDP), to promote community reintegration. Implement treatment and habitation programs developed by clinical services staff to address specific offending behaviours. Support clients to develop personal routines and lifestyles to meet their individual needs, abilities and preferences by: communicating and interacting with the client in ways that are respectful, culturally sensitive, encourage personal choice and protect rights and dignity; identifying and acting on opportunities for clients to develop skills and competencies; facilitating clients to maintain relationships with family, friends and support networks as identified in their individual development plan; effectively responding to and supporting clients to develop positive alternatives to engaging in offending behaviour and/or behaviours of harm; actively seeking and negotiating opportunities with local community organisations, sport and recreation clubs and educational and vocational providers to support clients to maximise access for clients to a range of opportunities.
