As our Head of Safety, you will have a unique opportunity to shape and build the safety function from the ground up, playing a pivotal role in establishing a culture of safety across all phases of the project. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for developing and embedding a comprehensive safety framework that covers design, procurement, construction and commissioning. You will partner with senior leaders, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure that safety is a core focus, enabling project success through proactive risk management, compliance with legislation and best-practice safety strategies.If you are passionate about making a real impact, enjoy building systems and teams from the foundation and thrive in a high-stakes environment, this is your chance to lead safety for a nationally significant project.Permanent role based in either Hobart, Traralgon or MelbourneBe a key architect of safety culture for a project of national importanceFlexible working supported, health and wellbeing benefits and additional leaveYour RoleStrategic Leadership:
Shape and embed a safety-first culture that spans all project phases, with a strong focus on collaboration and best practices. Act as a trusted advisor to Senior Leadership to develop and imbed our safety culture.Safety Management:
Refine, implement and continuously improve a robust safety management system that aligns with project needs and regulatory requirements. Develop and mentor a dedicated team of safety professionals, ensuring alignment with project goals and milestones.Risk & Compliance:
Provide expert guidance on safety challenges, risk management and injury prevention while ensuring compliance with all statutory and contractual obligations.You'll NeedExperience & Knowledge:Proven experience in building and leading safety programs within large-scale, complex & risk-sharing infrastructure projects.Demonstrated ability to design, implement and refine safety management systems from the ground up, driving safety culture, risk mitigation, and compliance.Strong understanding of risk management methodologies, injury rehabilitation and compliance reporting within a complex project environment.Experience in collaborating with leadership teams and contractors to deliver safety outcomes and develop a proactive safety culture.Qualifications & Technical Skills:Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety and Wellbeing or equivalent industry experience.Internal/external auditing certifications and experience leading Root Cause Analysis processes.Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act, Workers' Compensation Legislation and other regulatory frameworks.Proficiency in using safety management software and systems.We OfferWe are building a skilled project team motivated by our purpose of delivering our renewable future.
