Senior Sommelier

Odd Culture, along with its recently opened restaurant, Bistro Grenier, is looking for a Senior Sommelier to help lead our team.

Seated on Newtown's King Street, Bistro Grenier is located above our hatted wine bar, Odd Culture.
The restaurant and bar are the realization of the Group's marked focus on good drinks and precise, exceptional food, and a competitive wine program.

We're looking for a motivated and professional Senior Sommelier to join us and assist in delivering a successful wine offering as an efficient team in this new venue.

If you're an experienced sommelier looking to make your mark in a dynamic and respected venue, this is your chance.
Key responsibilities: Providing specialised wine service to guests, including the ability to recommend appropriate bottles, assess quality, and identify faults as the wine expert on the floor.
Knowledge of French wine regions, what makes them and their wines unique, and the ability to effectively communicate this to guests.
An understanding of natural wine, including but not limited to organic and biodynamic farming, iconic producers, and a keen sense for trends within the industry.
Inventory management and effective stock control, with a keen sense for organisation, particularly in relation to a dynamic and constantly evolving list.
Providing effective staff training on shift, developing the overall skill and knowledge of the front of house team, and assisting the Group Beverage Manager in facilitating regular trainings.
Collaborate with the Group Beverage Manager to build the wine program, participating in weekly tastings and providing input to the curation of the list.
