Requisition ID: 280164 Relocation Authorized: NoneTelework Type: Full-Time Office/ProjectWork Location: Brisbane, QLDThe Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.
The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah – Riyadh highway.
Job Summary:Bechtel is seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer for the Mining & Metals team, based in Brisbane, Australia.
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to find work scope and cost estimates for a project's control systems aspects.
You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes.
Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project's control systems aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities:Plans and conducts independent Control Systems work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Control Systems engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.Develops conceptual designs for Control Systems engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Control Systems aspects of the work.Conducts or leads special studies of new Control Systems engineering methods, materials and techniques.Mentors Control Systems engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.Education and Experience Requirements:Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10 – 13 years of relevant experience.Experience with functional safety system and TUV certification is highly regarded.Required Knowledge and Skills:CPEng status and current RPEQ.Demonstrated experience in Instrumentation Engineering.Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with the safety requirements.Demonstrated design and engineering experience in the mining and/or oil and gas handling.Have current knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and study criteria pertinent to instrumentation and control systems engineering ensuring compliance of design work with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures.Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients.SPI or Aveva Instrumentation experience is favourable.Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
