Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
Ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum.SC2: Expertise in the implementation and modelling of high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs.SC3: Ability to model the monitoring and assessment of student learning and support others in using data to inform teaching practice.SC4: Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills to engage in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community.SC5: Ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support others in reflecting on their practice.Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning.
The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include:
Lead the implementation and consistent use of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM).Provide professional learning around the VTLM.Model high-quality practice including High Impact Teaching Strategies, Practice Principles, and the Instructional Model.Observe staff members and give them feedback to support the understanding and utilisation of the VTLM.Support the implementation of DET policies on curriculum, assessment, and reporting the Victorian Curriculum.Assist the Specialist Sub-school leader in ensuring Therapy Plans are completed and implemented for class cohorts and nominated students.Oversee the internal assessment process including summative and formative assessment.Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
Conditions of Employment This vacancy is to replace an employee on parental absence and is for a period of seven years or until the employee absent on leave returns to duty at the school.
