Within the ICT Strategy and Architecture function, an EL 1 ICT Enterprise Architect is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve very complex research, analysis and design work within an integrated workforce.
They will require an in-depth knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
This position is also to provide architectural, design and support to projects implementing hard tokens or supporting infrastructure such as digital certificates.
An EL 1 ICT Enterprise Architect will work across a range of IT disciplines related to security and assurance of PKI and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs).
They will be required to focus on architectural and design tasks, in particular interfacing of applications and technologies with the Defence Identity suite and the associated identity and management controls.
They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development of their work area.
As an EL 1 ICT Enterprise Architect you will be:
Accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees.Develop enterprise wide architecture to determine and assess changes to align with strategic direction and business needs.Lead the assessment of the integrity and integration of information from all available sources and the application of a variety of analytical and presentation techniques.Identify and assess the relevance and risk of new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products that support Defence ICT strategies.Apply project planning skills to contribute to project plans and documentation.Build and sustain relationships, liaise with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate collaboration.Motivate and mentor colleagues, align complementary skills and leverage resources in a manner that delivers results.Evaluate and interpret major changes affecting the organisation and adjust plans to embrace and implement change.Analyse architectural processes, standards and activities and engage in continuous improvement.Evaluate and appraise architectures based on evidence and assessments and ensure compliance with agreed procedure.Translate benefits, risks and issues of current project options to meet business objectives and identify alternative proposals.This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

Strong interpersonal skills to engage business areas within Defence seeking assistance and understanding of PKI technologies as it relates to their business requirements.Have supported or have an in-depth understanding of the UniCERT PKI software suite or similar.Have supported or have an in-depth understanding the Intercede MyID Card Management System, Cogito's Jellyfish solution or similar.Have supported or have an in-depth understanding of middleware software and infrastructure (card readers, drivers and applet middleware) in a SOE.Can liaise with 3rd party hardware and software vendors to resolve issues.Directly liaise with internal Organisational Incident, Change and Problem management support teams.An in-depth understanding of the Gatekeeper PKI framework and approved asymmetric cryptographic algorithms approved for use within Australia to support PKI policy, audits and direction with a proven ability to provide accurate, clear and concise advice to senior stakeholders and boards.Provide specialist advice to policy and external agencies in the relation to Defence's implementation of PKI, smart cards and related technologies as well as advice, guidance and reporting to the Defence PKI Management Authority.Can assist with the planning and possible re-design of a PKI.Application Closing Date: Thursday 26 December 2024.
