DT Infrastructure have been awarded the contract to Design, Construction and Commission the Rail maintenance facility and stabling yards at Ormeau , in the Gold Coast region.
About the Role We are seeking a Design Manager with Depot & Buildings experience where you will be responsible for managing all elements of engineering design associated with projects in the buildings space including the design consultants with an accountability of achieving integration of the design and construction whilst driving value for money outcomes.
The role is responsible for ensuring that effective systems are implemented and utilised which deliver defined business objectives whilst ensuring overall compliance to regulatory and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities: Develop strategic alliances with clients, returned works owners, subconsultants, architects, urban designers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Develop new approaches, methods, or technologies.
Recognise the potential benefits of change in line with value engineering and cost planning principles.
Manage the work performance of self and direct reports to ensure objectives and milestones are achieved.
Ensure team's capabilities are appropriate to achieve business goals, identify resource and skill gaps and develop strategies to bridge gaps.
Ensure agreed standards, formats and deliverable timeframes are maintained.
About You: You must have an Engineering degree, or related qualifications.
Minimum of 10 plus years of experience post degree.
At least 5 years of experience in leading an engineering / design team.
Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of our Engineering's policies, procedures, and guidelines as well as relevant legislation.
Project Management and its application within a construction organisation and understand the importance and requirement to complete projects to time, budget, and quality parameters.
Leadership skills will also be key as will a passion for customer focused outcomes, driving safety, quality, and sustainability, along with the ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, and a collaborative nature.
Both are key with engaging with multiple internal, external and client stakeholder groups.
Proven experience in technical management through all project delivery phases.
Minimum 5 years.
Strong understanding of all aspects project delivery, including contractual structures and management.
Experience with end-to-end delivery of large infrastructure projects including operator involvement and whole-of-life considerations through design and delivery into operations.
Proven leader, managing a project team within a large infrastructure project/program.
Demonstrated delivery of building structures and specialist equipment within the rail maintenance environment.
Relevant computer literacy skills in 3 D CAD system experience.
