Production ControllerAs one of Australia's leading publishers, Penguin Random House has a proud and successful record publishing a wide range of authors from Australia and around the world.
We are currently seeking applications to fill the role of Production Controller based in our Sydney office.Reporting to the Production Manager – Adults, NZ and BD, you will play an integral part in the production process of books and reprints.
The successful candidate will be required to complete specific weekly and monthly tasks as outlined below.Main Tasks / Responsibilities:Manage the book production processes, ensuring titles are delivered to budget, deadlines and agreed quality levels.Create and process layout files and PDFs, distributing files to project editors and signing off material for print.Obtain quotes and negotiate with printers for non-grid titles to ensure best possible price and quality.Work across Adult, NZ and Business Development lists, on both print and ebook as well as reprints and POD as needed.Provide creative input and guidance to the supported publishing divisions.Manage both hard copy and digital archives, recalling files when needed.Update bibliographic system as required.Qualifications / Experience Required:Previous production, publishing or design experience.Familiarity with Macintosh environment, including good working knowledge of the Adobe suite.The successful applicant must be inquisitive, possess organisational and numeracy skills, be deadline driven and have the ability to manage competing priorities.
