Position Highlights
The successful applicant will join the school with a focus on providing quality Catholic education, maximising student outcomes by offering a rich, relevant and holistic curriculum that is student centered, flexible, and challenging.

The Careers Coordinators at Freeman work in partnership with one another to support the vocational prospects of our students.
The significance of this role is evident in the appointment of two teachers (1 point each) to work collaboratively to oversee scholarships, apprenticeship programs, career mentoring, equity schemes, liaising with Universities, TAFEs, Trade Centers, employers, and SCS to support vocational opportunities, collaborating with VET Coordinator and Curriculum Coordinator for our Pathways program and transition to senior school, mentorship of students in Years 10, 11, and 12 and leadership of Careers Presentations and Careers Days at the College to inform staff, students, and parents of the changing demands of the workforce.
This is a teaching position on a reduced load to effectively achieve the major accountabilities.

As a Middle leader, the Careers Coordinator plays a vital role in living the Gospel values, leading excellence in teaching and learning, and supporting the pastoral needs of the students.
The Careers Coordinator liaises with the Curriculum Coordinator and reports directly to the Assistant Principal.

This full-time role is scheduled to commence on Friday, 31 January 2025 .
The Careers Coordinator position is a 1-point promotional role, temporary for up to 3 years, however your teaching position will be full-time and permanent.

About You
As a Careers Coordinator , you work to ensure every student reaches their full potential through high quality, collaborative, and engaging pedagogy.

To excel in this role, you will have the following:
evidence of strong collaborative leadership with the ability to work as part of a dynamic team, leading and monitoring initiatives to support student engagement and opportunities post school demonstrated ability to lead, model and implement best practice in differentiated and personalised learning to meet the needs of all learners ensures organisation, detail and accuracy as key operating principles capacity to identify workflow priorities and to allocate resources to ensure teaching and learning is protected and supported successful leadership experience with the capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice well developed communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS nurture a College Culture that is characterised by high performance, continuous improvement, data-informed decision making, and a commitment to best practice ability to collaborate with other leaders, teachers, parents, and students to review the educational needs of students and support vocational pathways present at Year Meetings regarding vocational opportunities, UAC applications, scholarships, apprenticeships, equity schemes, post school opportunities, and careers counselling liaise with parents, SCS, employers, TAFE, and Universities to organise the Careers Day, work placement, presentations, and vocational opportunities engage in professional learning to maintain currency on regulatory changes and requirements for post school studies coordinate SBATs, work experience placements, and liaise with the necessary employers, Trade Training Centres, and SCS to support transition and ensure compliance communicate with students, staff, and parents regarding courses, apprenticeships, and scholarships to ensure they are well informed in the decision making process coordinate student engagement programs with the broader community to develop their confidence, leadership, and experience in vital employment skills maintain and strengthen our relationship with Universities and the student programs they offer to maximise opportunities for students in post school studies coordinate excursions at the Careers Expo to support student exploration of post school opportunities facilitate parent information sessions regarding post school opportunities, scholarships, equity programs, apprenticeships, and further study, including the HSC Symposium, Information Evenings for Years 10, 11 and 12.
