Our focus is on driving outcomes budgeting to deliver effective and impactful public spending

The Transport, Infrastructure and Investment division lead NSW Treasury's relationship with the Transport, Infrastructure, Investment and Planning clusters.
We support our partners to plan and deliver improved public services and major capital projects.

Your typical day-to-day work will include providing expert advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Treasury and the Treasurer on government policy and budget proposals impacting the Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure (DPHI) portfolio.
You will provide advice on major policy reforms related to planning, housing, lands, government property, and natural disaster recovery and mitigation.
Additionally, you will collaborate with agencies and treasury colleagues to prepare the annual State Budget and the Half-Yearly Review for the DPHI portfolio, manage relationships with the DPHI Executive and portfolio agencies, monitor their financial performance, and partner with agencies to foster a strong and sustainable NSW economy.

As a Senior Advisor , your primary responsibility is to analyse and provide high-quality advice to senior management and the Treasurer on policy, regulatory, financial, and economic issues facing government agencies and businesses.
You will conduct complex research and analysis to develop sound and actionable recommendations, supporting effective budgetary management and achieving positive public sector outcomes.

You will be joining our Policy & Budget Group and will be working within the Transport Infrastructure & Investment Division, Planning Housing & Infrastructure Team.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
Advanced financial literacy, including an established track record in financial analysis or experience analysing complex public policy from an economic perspective.
Detailed understanding of the public sector environment and experience producing accurate and evidence-based analysis and public policy advice in compressed timeframes.
Ability to represent Treasury professionally and credibly and engage and influence senior external stakeholders.
Knowledge and understanding, or the demonstrated ability to develop an understanding of, the NSW Government's policies and programs.
Tertiary qualifications in public policy, economics, finance, accounting, law, business, or a related discipline.
