Postdoctoral Fellowship in Materials Science University of New South Wales Australia The Opportunity
The School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW Sydney is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for an exciting research project funded by an ARC Australian Laureate Fellowship.
This project, titled "Light-Driven Manufacturing for (Re)Programmable Materials," focuses on developing cutting-edge photochemical techniques for 3D printing.
Project Overview: This research aims to revolutionize 3D printing by developing innovative photochemical tools that utilize different wavelengths of light to selectively trigger specific reactions.
This wavelength-controlled approach will enable the simultaneous execution of multiple reactions, streamlining the fabrication of complex, multi-material 3D objects with unprecedented precision and functionality.

Skills & Experience:
PhD (or soon to be awarded) in material science or chemistry, with expertise in photopolymerization, photocontrolled/living radical polymerization (such as Reversible Addition Fragmentation Chain Transfer polymerisation; Atom transfer radical polymerization) and photocationic polymerization, photocatalyst and photoinitiator synthesis.
Strong background in photochemistry, polymer chemistry, and/or 3D printing.
Excellent experimental and analytical skills.
Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
Demonstrated previous research experience in polymer synthesis, photochemistry, and synthesis of functional monomer.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
