About the Job About the role Are you a skilled engineer with a passion for the public transport industry?
We are seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to join the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and play a pivotal role in the design, manufacturing, commissioning, and maintenance of our rollingstock fleet.
In this role, you will provide vital technical support, ensuring our projects meet stringent safety, quality, and reliability standards.
From inspections and witness testing to the preparation of detailed reports, your expertise will help shape the future of public transport.
As a key contributor to the PTA's rollingstock project, you will assist in the development of design, manufacturing, commissioning, and maintenance activities associated with the delivery of new rollingstock.
You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Your proactive involvement in safety initiatives, risk assessments, and job planning will contribute to a strong safety culture within the organisation.

About You To excel in this role, you should possess:
Relevant experience in applying engineering assurance throughout the project lifecycle, with strong knowledge of engineering standards related to rollingstock, large vehicles, or heavy mobile equipment. A Degree or Diploma in Engineering (preferably mechanical or electrical) with eligibility for professional recognition by the Institute of Engineers Australia. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-intensity environment, effectively directing consultants and contractors to achieve project goals. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, consult at senior levels, and work collaboratively within a team. Proven conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, demonstrated through resolving complex technical issues.
