The opportunity Through the National Recovery Team and working with multiple stakeholders, this role will support and enable the implementation of key recovery actions and initiatives identified in the National Recovery Plan for the Swift Parrot (Lathamus discolour).
This role will also contribute to key evaluation, learnings and improvements in governance, coordination and the communications' requirements for the National Recovery Team and National Recovery Plan, amongst other things.
To be successful in this role, you will need a degree in ecology or another relevant discipline with at least five years' experience working in the field of applied conservation.
Strong technical knowledge of species recovery and species conservation, management of threats and conservation solutions, and strong relationship building skills are essential for this role.
Analytical skills, including managing and analysing datasets, and knowledge of other tools, including MERIT, will be highly valued, as will an appreciation and understanding of science-based conservation, and a desire to find practical solutions to managing human-wildlife conflicts.
What you need to know This is a part-time position (0.8 FTE) offered on a maximum term contract initially.
Continuation of the role will be subject to available funding.
The position is based in Tasmania.
Alternative locations will be considered based on strategic merit.
Applicants must possess corresponding work rights to be eligible for appointment, a current national police check (NPC), a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) (or willingness to obtain) and evidence of qualifications (if applicable).
