The primary focus of this role will be to:Support NQROC to deliver a coordinated review, update and implementation of the North Queensland Regional Waste and Resource Recovery Management Plan (the Plan).Facilitate engagement across the five Regional Councils' implementation of the Plan.Facilitate delivery of projects in the Plan, which will contribute to achieving the targets of the QLD Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy.This position will sit within Townsville City Council's Resource Recovery offices and work with the NQROC to provide the most economically viable and operationally practical solutions to increase landfill diversion and recycling, encourage economic development, while improving environmental and social outcomes for the region.About YouYou will be a dynamic leader with relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, or Business Management and have at least 10 years of experience managing complex waste management and recycling projects within large organizations and diverse political settings.
A postgraduate qualification in a related field is preferred, and candidates should be eligible for memberships in relevant professional associations.The successful applicant will possess extensive technical knowledge of waste management and circularity practices, including waste reduction, reuse, and recycling.
A strong grasp of regulatory requirements related to waste and resource recovery services, particularly under the Environmental Protection Act 1994, the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011, and their subordinate legislations.
You should have a proven track record in developing and implementing strategic management plans, along with advanced project management skills to handle multiple initiatives effectively.
You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and present to diverse audiences, and establish and develop productive relationships.How to ApplyYour application can be submitted through the 'Apply' button.
