Graduate Physiotherapist - Graduate ProgramMulgrave Private Hospital (MPH) is an acute medical and surgical hospital conveniently located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
MPH has more than 35 years of experience providing quality care across 242 registered beds.
MPH is expanding to cater to the needs of patients from the local community, veteran community and those travelling from the country and overseas, with two new theatres in 2022 and a brand new Emergency Department to be developed in the near future.
The MPH Physiotherapy department is a diverse and welcoming team.
Our physiotherapists always use a patient-centred approach to provide evidence-based high quality care.
New Graduate Physiotherapists will be fully supported for the transition from student to independent clinician through our structured New Graduate Program.
MPH currently offers 3 clinical rotations in Acute Orthopaedics, General Surgery, and General Medicine, with opportunity to upskill in high acuity areas under the guidance of senior Physiotherapists.
Professional Development MPH offers a monthly in-house theoretical and practical professional development program as well as an allowance for external PD and study leave.
Grade 1 Physiotherapists will have the opportunity to enhance skills in areas of interest with 1:1 mentoring and senior supervision, weekend training and informal discussions.
Grade 1 Physiotherapists will also have the opportunity to contribute to service enhancement and quality improvement projects.
MPH welcomes new ideas and values input from all members of the healthcare team.
Rotations Acute Orthopaedics – This rotation will provide exposure to a wide range of elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery including trauma.
Common presentations include fractures, joint replacements, and spinal surgery.
Day surgery and emergency department experience is also available.
Opportunity exists for multidisciplinary team management including collaboration with other members of the Allied Health team and external orthotists.
General Surgery – This rotation includes assessment and management post cardiothoracic surgery as well as upper and lower abdominal surgery.
Our experienced surgeons perform a variety of surgeries including CABGs, drainage of pleural effusion/lung lobectomy, colorectal and bariatric surgery.
Grade 1 Physiotherapists will also have the opportunity to learn under senior clinicians across CCU and ICU.
General Medicine – This rotation will enhance skills in the management and discharge planning of complex medical patients who may present with falls, deconditioning, and multiple comorbidities.
This patient cohort will allow further opportunities to build communication and interpersonal skills, working as a team with the discharge planner and rehab assessors.
New Graduate Recruitment Process MPH encourages all interested New Graduate Physiotherapists to apply to be part of our friendly and supportive team.
Each rotation will be 4 months in duration, with a 1 year fulltime fixed-term contract offered to the successful applicant.
