About the Role The Cloud/Infrastructure Engineer is a vital subject matter expert within the Next Generation CAD program, reporting to the Systems Engineering Lead. This role is centered on enhancing and expanding Triple Zero Victoria's cloud and on-premises solutions, primarily utilizing Azure and other hyper-scaler providers as needed. We are looking for a candidate with a creative and innovative mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to resiliency, availability, and sustainability in cloud and on-premises design and implementation practices. The primary purpose of the role is to support the delivery of hybrid cloud and on-premises solutions within the TZV transformation program, with a specific focus on the Next Generation CAD project. The engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring that these solutions are effectively designed and implemented to meet organizational goals, contributing to the overall success of the transformation initiatives.
Day to day responsibilities include: Collaborate with vendors, stakeholders, and internal teams to understand project requirements and assist in the design, build, and implementation across Azure and on-premises environments.Create detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and documentation for cloud and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring alignment with organizational vision and strategy.Liaise with internal and external resources to support vendor activities in the Next Generation CAD program and facilitate the integration of infrastructure solutions.Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, incorporating them into designs and builds as appropriate.Identify compatible engineering solutions and integrate innovative design approaches to enhance hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure resilience.Manage workloads effectively, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements while ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and TZV values.About You You will have formal qualifications in Information Technology, Infrastructure or Networking, with experience in systems engineering. Further technical qualifications in Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate or Azure (Associate or Engineer level certification) and CISCO Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or other CISCO qualifications, are also required.
In addition to these qualifications, you will further demonstrate the following:
Experience in Microsoft engineering practices for Azure cloud and on-premises infrastructure hosting in mission-critical environments is essential.Solid understanding of virtualization and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a continuous learning mindset and relevant certifications.Proven experience in implementing full data center lifecycle projects, particularly in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, ideally within the government sector.In-depth knowledge of Azure services, including compute resources, virtual machines, storage, authentication, security, and networking, is highly regarded.Strong documentation skills for solutions, systems changes, and detailed designs, along with sound knowledge of security protocols and the ability to integrate and maintain security solutions.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong organizational skills, and a customer-focused mindset, with the capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.It is essential that you have demonstrated experience working with the following applications/systems - Microsoft Server (2016-2022 including Active Directory), VMWare vSphere (V7/V8), Infrastructure as Code in a cloud environment, Infrastructure monitoring systems such as Splunk or Dynatrace, SAN Storage (Veeam Pure Storage), Dell Servers, Veeam Backup and PowerShell.
