Job Description We are excited to offer a rare opportunity for a highly driven Senior Legal Counsel to join Minor Hotels' dynamic in-house legal team.
Based in our Brisbane CBD office and reporting to the General Counsel, this senior role provides expert legal guidance in a fast-paced, national environment.
This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional with property or hospitality experience, looking to advance their career with a global hotel group.
Starting in early 2025, you will work closely with the General Counsel to shape legal strategy, mentor the legal team, and handle complex legal matters.

Key Responsibilities Include: Providing comprehensive legal advice, recommendations, and support to key internal stakeholders, including the Owners Department, Property Division (65+ properties), Leadership Team, Executive Committee, General Counsel, and Commercial Departments.Managing legal matters by offering expert advice, preparing, and reviewing contracts and other legal documentation.Keeping the General Counsel fully informed of significant legal or compliance issues arising from ongoing work.Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing corporate, sponsorship, software-related, and other commercial agreements, including hotel management and operational contracts.Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Hotel Management Agreements (HMAs), property leases, and associated documentation.Supporting the legal team in managing agreements related to the acquisition or divestment of hotels, including purchase and sale agreements.Preparing, renewing, and assigning MLR Agreements, leases, HMAs, and franchise agreements as required.Providing expert advice on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance and privacy legislation.Qualifications To be successful in this role you will require the following: Tertiary qualification in Law or Law/Commerce.Admission to practice as a solicitor in Queensland.At least 10 years of post-admission experience, with demonstrated expertise in Property Law or Hotel Law highly regarded.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, managers, staff, external counsel, and regulatory bodies in a professional and collaborative manner.High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and exceptional phone and computer skills.Excellent planning and organizational abilities to manage competing priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.A career-driven mindset with a commitment to professional growth and a strong team-oriented approach.Additional Information Join our positive and vibrant team and be rewarded with these team benefits: Highly competitive remuneration package, which is negotiable based on experienceComplimentary onsite parking50% discounts on accommodation across all Minor Hotel brands in Australia and New ZealandAccess to Minor Hotels ANZ paid parental leave benefits20% team member's friend and family discount on accommodation across all Minor Hotel brands in Australia and New ZealandAdditional paid leave including Birthday and Study leave.Educational Financial support may be available to those who undertake development relevant to the company's business requirements.Discount savings and cash back from over 400 popular retailers in Australia and New ZealandEntertainment and experience discounts (Opera Australia; Australia Zoo; BRG Brands- Experience oz, Adrenaline and RedBalloon)Discount on Furniture50% off The Coffee Club VIP membership and discount on Minor Hotels F&B outlets across the globeWellbeing programs with Uprise (EAP)Wellness Programs at Elysia Wellness retreat Accommodation, all F&B, all Wellness Activities, Spa Treatments (depends on length of program to how many) and Wellness one on one consultsOur people drive the success of our business, so we will invest in your skills to allow you to grow and progress through your career.
