Assistant Chief Engineer
to joining our growing team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our maintenance team.Permanent full-time position.Monday to Friday with the occasional weekend required.38 hours per week.About the roleYou will work closely with the Chief Engineer to manage and oversee all aspects of property maintenance and improvements across our 308-suite hotel.As part of the senior management team, you will report directly to the Chief Engineer and be responsible for a team of professional trade and support staff, this is a hands on role which will see you in the operations daily with your team.Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversee refurbishment project with Chief Engineer and General Manager.Leading your team to plan and carry out preventative maintenance and general repairs throughout the hotel ensuring the highest standards are maintained.Prepare and submit capex proposals and manage capex projects.Liaising closely with other departments to ensure minimal impact of repairs and maintenance on the operations.Training your staff and sharing your expertise to improve the overall team's skill set.Coordination of external contractors as required, including obtaining quotes, raising purchase orders and ensuring work is completed in an agreed time frame and within adherence to hotel safety standards.Designing and implementing solutions to improve energy management and conservation.Preparing monthly maintenance reporting.Carrying out project work as required .Active participation in the implementation and adherence to all Work Health & Safety policies and practices.Skills and ExperienceMinimum 3 years' experience as a Maintenance Manager or at least 5 years as a Building/Facilities Manager.Tertiary qualification in either electrical or mechanical engineering is highly desirable.Previous experience in a large-scale hotel Engineering department is desirable.Previous experience in managing large scale capex projects.Strong management and teamwork capabilities.Previous experience in with a PMS – Property Management System, and Opera is desirable.Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.High level of communication skills.Culture and BenefitsTailored coaching and mentoring program.Great team and environment.Free staff meal.Discounts within the group.How to ApplyIf you believe you have the drive and skills to succeed in this role, please click the 'Apply Now' button.We thank you in advance for your interest in this position, however only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.Stamford Hotels & Resorts is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Located at the 'Paris end' of the city, Stamford Plaza Melbourne is a popular choice for business and leisure guests looking for quality accommodation in Melbourne's central business district.With our comfortable, generous sized hotel rooms, studios, one & two bedroom suites, Stamford Plaza Melbourne offers versatility combined with five star personalised service.
