About the role
We are seeking an experienced Criminal Solicitor to join our legal team in our Melbourne office.
As a Criminal Solicitor, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality legal representation and advice to our clients facing criminal charges.
This is a full-time position and will involve working closely with our team of legal professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
What you'll be doing Providing comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients in a wide range of criminal matters, including but not limited to assault, theft, drug and traffic offences.Conducting thorough research and analysis of relevant laws, regulations, and case law to build strong defence strategies.Preparing and filing legal documents, such as applications, motions, and briefs, with the relevant courts and tribunals.Negotiating with prosecutors and other legal parties to reach favourable outcomes for clients.Appearing in court to represent clients during trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings.Maintaining detailed records and providing regular updates to clients on the progress of their cases.Staying up-to-date with changes in criminal law and providing guidance to the team on emerging legal issues.What we're looking for A bachelor's degree in law and a valid practising certificate as a solicitor in Victoria.Experience (minimum 1 year) in criminal law, preferably in a private practice or legal aid setting.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex legal concepts to clients.Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to develop robust legal strategies.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other legal professionals.Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload.Commitment to providing exceptional client service and achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.What we offer
