The SCFC is one of many programs within Infant, Child, and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS) and provides a specialised therapeutic residential service for children aged up to 12 years who have experienced adverse life events.As the Mental Health Clinician, you will provide direct care to families residing at the Centre. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to creating and maintaining a trauma informed, therapeutic milieu, identifying and promoting opportunities to improve parent-child/relational issues and family functioning, and increasing the overall connectedness within the family and the community.A regular day will see you:Providing psychotherapeutic and psychosocial interventions to children and families residing at the CentreFacilitating group programs within the Centre for children, parents/carers and siblingsContributing your knowledge and skillset within the multidisciplinary team at care meetings and within care systemsCoordinating referrals and admissions of children and families to the CentreLiaising with relevant community agencies, providing secondary consultation, training and promoting the service to wider communityAbout youIf you are enthusiastic about supporting children and families, have expertise in current theoretical approaches and best practices, and enjoy collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to help shape the future of an innovative child and family mental health service, we would love for you to join usTo be successful in this role you'll bring with you:Tertiary qualifications in Nursing, Social work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or other related disciplineExperience in working therapeutically and systemically with children with mild to moderate mental health presentationsDemonstrated understanding of professional frameworks, theories, and practices as they relate to children and families and mental healthDemonstrated ability and knowledge of a range of psychotherapeutic interventions for both individuals and groupsWillingness and ability to work outside business hours and in an outreach capacity, including early morning and evening shifts, weekends, and nightshiftWork with usWe are committed to cultural safety and health equity for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People.
