Cogito is looking to expand and is seeking junior and mid-level candidates with the right ability, attitude, and aptitude.For junior applicants: We are looking for people who are passionate about IT, have a foundational understanding of IT general knowledge, and have the potential to develop skills in a number of disciplines related to DevOps Engineer / Full-Stack Developer in the cyber security space.For mid-level applicants: We expect you to already be a Full-Stack Developer or DevOps Engineer that is capable in a number of areas and looking to master some of them. This role is a perfect fit for people with development, systems administrator, testing, and/or architectural skills who want more variety in the type of work they will do. You will need a yearning to deliver interesting and complex projects. Delivery is the key word. For those of you up to the challenge, you will get plenty of opportunities to further your development by taking ownership of a project from design through to delivery.These positions are a great opportunity for people who have a keen interest in platform design and system administration, as well as for those with these skills already and who would like to expand their knowledge to include PKI, Identity Management, and IT Security.A successful candidate must be a self-starter, quick learner, and have the ability to work independently. Being a hard worker with a strong work ethic, you will be willing to work across all areas of development, integration, and system administration. You must also be willing to travel if required.Specifically, you will:Have a strong aptitude and willingness to learn new skillsTake initiative for solving problems, and possess strong problem-solving abilityProvide innovative solutions and high-level supportPerform software development on existing systems for enhancement and maintenancePerform software design and development of new systems/featuresPerform system integration and testingSupport the configuration and administration of systems and networksDesign, install and support networking solutions such as routers, switches, and firewallsDesign, install and support servers and desktops (both Linux and Windows)Maintain user and system documentationResearch and evaluate products and servicesInstall, upgrade and support open source and specialized commercial software packages.Core skills, required for both roles:Strong aptitude and willingness to learn new skillsInitiative for solving problems, and strong problem-solving ability.Skills required for junior applicants:(Highly Desirable) An understanding of general IT concepts(Highly Desirable) An understanding of IT security concepts(Highly Desirable) Clear and concise document writing skills(Highly Desirable) Willingness and ability to travel(Highly Desirable) Demonstrated ability and/or experience in administration of firewall and network equipment(Highly Desirable) Demonstrated ability and/or experience in network administration(Highly Desirable) Experience in developing enterprise software(Desirable) Demonstrated ability and/or experience in administration of Windows desktops and servers(Desirable) Experience with administration and support of UNIX systems(Desirable) Demonstrable proficiency in at least two different programming/scripting languages (low level, object-oriented, scripting, query based, or functional)(Desirable) Experience in developing software (through prior work experience, personal projects, or open-source projects)(Desirable) Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively and effectively both individually and as a member of a small team.Skills required for mid-level applicants:(Must) Have a number of the junior desirable skills(Highly Desirable) Any of the junior highly desirable skills(Highly Desirable) Ability to lead and mentor others(Highly Desirable) Able to manage delivery expectations(Highly Desirable) Experience in any of the following; Go, React, C#(Desirable) Experience with Public Key Infrastructure(Desirable) Experience with LDAP(Desirable) Experience as a DevOps Engineer (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, etc.)(Desirable) Experience with Selenium(Desirable) Experience with Docker / Containers.Qualifications / Experience requirements:Degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science (or a related discipline), or equivalent work experience.Australian citizenship is mandatory for this position, as we deliver projects to Federal Government clients, and you must undertake and maintain a security clearance during employment.Candidates with current Australian security clearance will also be preferred.How to apply:To be considered for this opportunity please provide a CV and cover letter detailing why you'd like to join us.
