Please note that Forensic Science Queensland has recently been through a Machinery of Government change, and as of 1 July 2024, was administratively assigned to the Department of Justice.Seeking an experienced and highly skilled Forensic Chemistry professional to provide expert scientific advice and lead key projects within a dynamic and innovative environment. This role is ideal for a forensic chemist with a strong background in laboratory operations, project management, and quality systems.Key Responsibilities:Provide high-level scientific support and advice on projects, policy, research, accreditation, and innovation.Lead and manage forensic chemistry projects, ensuring successful delivery and benefits realisation.Develop and implement best practice project management methodologies, tools, and processes.Liaise with key stakeholders and provide expert scientific guidance on complex issues.Research, analyse, and present complex information in clear, concise reports and briefings.Oversee compliance with ISO 17025 and quality systems, ensuring adherence to risk assessments and best practices.Foster positive relationships with stakeholders and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and safe working environment.Qualifications and Experience:A relevant degree in science (forensic chemistry or a related field).Extensive operational experience in a forensic chemistry science laboratory.Demonstrated project management expertise, including successful delivery of scientific projects.Strong understanding of forensic chemistry methods, ISO 17025 accreditation, and quality systems.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.Experience in project and/or change management.Knowledge of scientific method and the development of empirical studies.
