Job Responsibilities:Testing and Analysis: Perform a variety of tests on asphalt samples, including density, viscosity, and composition analysis.
Conduct quality control tests to ensure that asphalt mixtures meet specified standards and performance criteria.Sample Collection: Collect samples from different stages of asphalt production, including raw materials, mixed asphalt, and finished products.
Ensure proper handling and storage of samples to prevent contamination or alteration.Equipment Operation: Operate laboratory equipment such as bitumen testers, viscosity meters, and compaction machines.
Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate results.Data Recording and Reporting: Record test results and maintain detailed logs of data and observations.
Prepare and present reports on test findings, including any deviations from specifications or potential issues.Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all testing procedures comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Follow proper safety protocols when handling materials and operating equipment.Troubleshooting: Identify and address any issues with test results or equipment malfunctions.

Assist in the development and refinement of asphalt mixture designs and specifications.Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of tests, results, and any other relevant information.
Prepare documentation for regulatory compliance and project documentation.Skills and Qualifications:Educational Background: Typically, a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
An associate's degree or coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field can be advantageous.Technical Skills: Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and understanding of asphalt testing methods.
Familiarity with industry standards and specifications related to asphalt.Attention to Detail: Ability to perform tests with precision and accurately record results.Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities to interpret test results and identify any issues.Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration with other team members.Physical Stamina: Capability to handle physical aspects of the job, including lifting materials and working in various environmental conditions.Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory setting or related field can be beneficial.
