About the role
V/Line's Maryborough region is looking for their next Rail Track Labourer to join the team supporting the maintenance (gang) team.
Reporting to the Track Ganger, the role's purpose is to work as part of a team to perform maintenance tasks such as laying, aligning, repairing, and maintaining railway tracks.
Track works are from Maryborough to Arat to St Arnaud, Donolly to Korong Vale, North Ballarat to Ballarat, providing exposure to works on both freight and passenger predominantly freight lines.
Our ideal candidate will also meet the following requirements:
Operate and drive medium to heavy trucks and plant equipment.
Perform tasks related to the renewal and maintenance of rail infrastructure.
Participate in the replacement or renewal of track work and crossing materials (e.g., sleepers, rail, ballast, fastenings).
The role will also include manual labouring tasks and not just machine operation.
Ensure the safe operation of all plant and trucks.
About you
We are looking for a safety-conscious team player with a positive attitude.
This position could be the first step to your future career with V/Line
Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
Safe Working Certificate 1-3.
Heavy articulated/Multi Combination Truck Driver's License is mandatory.
Competence with Loader/Backhoe/Excavator (12 tonnes and above) with experience from either rail, construction civil or a recycling environment is essential.
