Smart Tax Search is proud to be working with a large, international Law Firm with a fabulous Global reputation for technical excellence.
Senior Tax Associate – Corporate and M&A Tax Working directly with high-profile Tax Partners, they are looking to hire an experienced Tax Lawyer with a focus on Corporate & International Tax and M&A.
You will also have exposure to other areas of Tax Law including disputes and trusts.
You will have exposure to a wide variety of clients from different industry sectors.
The key responsibilities of the role will be:
Advising on large scale M&A transactions, with emphasis on advisory engagements in the property, funds management, banking and finance and infrastructure sectors, as well as energy & resources.
Providing advice to private equity investors.
Building relationships with and negotiating with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) when required.
Advising clients on a range of corporate tax law from corporate reorganisations, trusts, initial public offerings, secondary offerings, spin-offs, joint ventures, employee share schemes and executive remuneration, through to partnerships.
Forming part of a broad tax offering spanning the Corporate, Finance and Disputes practice groups, and working closely with tax colleagues in Australia and internationally.
Providing supervisory and ad-hoc training to more junior Tax lawyers in the team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding Sydney Tax practice where you will be working with industry leading Tax Partners, as well as other lawyers across our national Tax practice.
The Tax team focuses on general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, funds, energy, resources and property taxation matters.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
An unrestricted Australian or New Zealand practicing certificate with 5-9 years or more experience working on a range of corporate tax matters from the international tax, M&A or corporate tax areas of a top-tier or mid-tier law firm, top-tier accounting firm or large corporate.
A strong academic record and relevant legal qualifications.
A Masters of Tax or Laws will be highly regarded (although not essential).
Strong attention to detail.
Proven experience in successfully supervising and mentoring junior Tax professionals.
A curiosity about clients, and corporate and commercial tax law and transactions, and the desire to continue to learn and develop strong client relationships.
A proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of, and contributor to, the leading and supportive team.
An ability to work to tight timeframes, collaboratively and, at times, autonomously.
An eagerness to create an exceptional experience for the firm's clients and value empathy, simplicity and commerciality as the Partners do.
