ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY: The House Leader plays a leading role in the pastoral care structure at St Paul's School.
The House Leader is a position of added responsibility, and is responsible for:
Leading the creation of safe and nurturing environments for students. Articulating a shared vision, building a team with their Tutors, and creating and maintaining a supportive and challenging learning environment. Working with the Director of Wellbeing, Counselling Team, Health Centre and Senior Leadership Team to ensure student welfare and wellbeing is at the forefront of educational offerings and specifically, the Pastoral program of the School. The general organisation of the House, the pastoral care and behaviour management procedures for students in the House, encouraging the general participation of students in a range of activities (sporting, cultural, social, service) designed to extend the learning experiences of students. Taking an active interest and role in nurturing the growth and development of students. Leading, managing and supporting respective Tutors and Co-Tutors. The House Leader is assisted in their role by other members of House staff, Tutors, Teachers, and by their Year 12 student leaders.
ABOUT YOU: To be successful in this role, you will have:
Graduate qualifications in Secondary education within the applicable discipline/s and registration with Queensland College of Teachers. Experience in leading Pastoral Care/Wellbeing in a School setting. Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and in-depth knowledge of curriculum requirements relevant to specific year levels and ability to implement innovative and highly effective teaching strategies. Teaching style actively promotes student inquiry, creativity and higher order thinking and uses techniques, such as scaffolding, for supporting students in encountering new or challenging content or tasks. A strong focus on achieving positive learning experiences and outcomes for students is required as well as flexibility and the ability to adapt and operate effectively in a demanding and changing environment. Willingness to actively participate in and support the co-curricular program of the School. An understanding of and respect for Christian values and demonstrable support for the School's Anglican ethos. Current First Aid certificate, or willingness to acquire this.
