About the role This is an opportunity for a mid-level Senior Associate to join K&L Gates' Australian Competition and Consumer Law team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small but high performing team which works on both national and international matters, particularly as upcoming changes to merger clearance, digital competition issues, as well as the Australian Consumer Law bring significant opportunities.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fulfil this position on a full time permanent basis.
The team is part of K&L Gates' worldwide Antitrust, Competition & Trade Regulation Practice Group.
This role is to work with Sydney Policy and Regulatory practice partner, Ayman Guirguis.
He has a wealth of experience advising clients on merger clearance, advising on cartel and immunity issues, joint ventures and on supply chain arrangements between suppliers and customers/consumers.
What does the role involve?
The role will involve you advising clients across a number of industries including manufacturing, packaging, IT, retail, and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceuticals and property and construction, on: competition law issues, including: merger clearance/submissions; cartel issues including immunity/leniency applications, and market collaborations; and advising on supply agreements, other supply chain issues including exclusivities/restrictions; consumer law issues, including: marketing and sales strategies and minimising risk of misleading or deceptive conduct; unfair contract terms, and unconscionable conduct risks (and in due course, unfair trading practices); consumer guarantees and warranty issues; and product liability/safety and recall related issues; and designing and assisting clients implementing compliance programs including undertaking risk audits and assisting with training.
The role also involves providing training and mentoring to junior members of the practice group.
