About the department: Palliative Care Services, based at the Olivia Newton-John Centre, provides specialist palliative care to patients with cancer and any other life limiting illness. This includes via a 24-bed specialist inpatient Palliative Care Unit, a Palliative Care Consultancy service to the acute inpatients of the Austin Hospital, a specialist Palliative Care Clinic, a Palliative Care acute community inreach services (with visits to patients' residence or residential aged care facility), and liaising with Community Palliative Care Service providers.
About the role: Hours per week: 40 hrs permanent. A combination of multiple candidates will be considered.Employment status: Ongoing Permanent Full timeAppointment period: Commencing 06 January 2025As a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Consultant you must: Be a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of AustraliaHold a Post Graduate qualification in palliative care nursing or equivalentHave significant specialist Palliative Care experience with experience in a senior nursing roleHave evidence of a commitment to excellence in the care of Palliative Care patients, with demonstrated understanding of the care and management in an inpatient, ambulatory and community settingHave excellent organisation, time management skills and attention to detailHave excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsBe able to demonstrate analytical and problem solving abilityHave an ability to work collaboratively, as a team member and autonomously to meet patient needs and the goals of the unitHave experience in utilising information technology to optimise patient care, including electronic medical record systems, clinical systems and business softwareWorking at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
