About the role School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Lecturer in Construction Management.
The successful candidate in Construction Management will conduct world-leading and impactful research and teach in a broad range of built environment-related areas such as quantity surveying, construction technology, sustainability, contract administration, digital construction, and project management, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Proven research experience in one or more of these areas, as well as a proven capacity for successful grant applications, are essential.
We seek an outstanding researcher and educator with an excellent track record of impactful research, evidenced by publications in top journals and peer-reviewed conferences, the ability to attract research funding, and demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning in higher education.
The successful applicant is expected to collaborate with colleagues in the School and across the University, design curriculum and undertake teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and provide supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students, and higher degree research students and is expected to have a proven ability to foster links with external partners, including industry, government, and community, as the School diversifies its income sources.
The incumbent will be involved in a broad spectrum of teaching activities, including developing and delivering innovative interdisciplinary academic programs related to Construction Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and leading student projects for national and international competitions.
The appointee is expected to develop and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in projects that address recognised grand challenges with high impact, form strategic interdisciplinary teams with staff and students, and identify and obtain research grants in collaboration with internal and external partners.
About You The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent in Construction Management or a related field.
They will have experience contributing to curriculum accreditation with relevant professional bodies and meeting professional registration/accreditation requirements for membership to the Australian Institute of Building (AIB), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS), and/or Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS).
The candidate will possess an internationally competitive research profile in the Built Environment/Construction Management or a relevant research field, demonstrated by substantive research funding acquisition, scholarly publications in high-quality journals, and impactful research outcomes.
They will have a proven capacity to obtain substantial research funding from various sources, including competitive government grants and income from public and private sector agencies and industry.
The candidate will demonstrate the ability to enliven built environment programs through networks of academic and professional colleagues by attracting high-calibre visiting scholars and establishing high-level interactions with other leading institutions and construction practices.
Additionally, they will have demonstrated leadership experience and innovation in high-quality contemporary curriculum design, development, delivery, and assessment, including evidence of teaching quality and successful supervision of Master and PhD candidates.
Experience in successful interaction with industry or other external partners in research projects is essential, and industry experience in a related field is highly regarded.
