More than a job, this role, working in exceptional facilities, serves the community in caring for the wellbeing of animals and the people who love them.
Key Responsibilities Lead the internal medicine team in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical cases, from endocrinology to cardiology and gastroenterology. Be a mentor and resource for junior veterinarians and veterinary nurses, guiding them in best practices and patient care. Undertake advanced diagnostic evaluations, utilising imaging, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic tools to determine accurate diagnoses. Collaborate with surgical and specialty teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients requiring multi-disciplinary care. Maintain open and compassionate communication with clients, keeping them informed about their pet's diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis. Ensure that the Hospital's internal medicine protocols are followed, focusing on continuous improvement and patient safety. Be a champion for ongoing professional development and continuing education within the medicine team. Work in collaboration with hospital leadership to enhance the Hospital's internal medicine service and support its growth. What We Offer: Competitive salary, with generous penalty rates. About You: Qualifications: DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree with an active license to practice veterinary medicine in Victoria. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in veterinary internal medicine, with at least 5 years as a senior Vet. Memberships in internal medicine is highly desirable but not required. Strong passion for mentoring and teaching veterinary staff. Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills with the ability to work through complex cases in a methodical, compassionate manner. Strong communication skills, both with clients and within the veterinary team. Dedication to providing ethical patient care and client service.
