Grade 3 Physiotherapist Clinical Educator 12 months fixed term position (parental leave) open to full time or part time applicants Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and state-wide.

About the Physiotherapy Department The Physiotherapy Department comprises approximately 112 EFT staff at the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
A physiotherapy clinical service is provided seven days per week, 12 hours per day to acute and aged care inpatient areas as well as outpatient and community services.
There is a seven-day primary care service for soft tissue injuries in the Emergency Department.
The Physiotherapy Department is a major clinical school for the University of Melbourne with responsibility for approximately 100 students across the three years for the Doctor of Physiotherapy graduate degree.
The Physiotherapy Department also supports two industry partnership education roles with Swinburne University of Technology in Acute Physiotherapy and Neurology, and is responsible for 50 student placements for the Swinburne University of Technology Master of Physiotherapy graduate degree.
Clinical research is a priority of the department, supported by the University of Melbourne Chair of Physiotherapy at Austin Health.
About the role The primary focus of this role is to grow education capability across the Physiotherapy Department using pedagogical principles of adult learning.
Apply theory to education practice, consult on education issues, and engage in educational scholarship Embed evidenced based education methods into curriculum design, teaching and learning activities, program assessment and evaluation Act as a resource and support for staff regarding education matters Public dissemination of education work & innovations, building on current evidence, theoretical frameworks and best practices.
Contribute to coordination and oversight of Austin Health clinical education model for physiotherapy students.
Contribute to planning and development of ongoing physiotherapy clinical placement models for physiotherapy students at Austin Health.
Provide wholistic patient care across a broad range of services in the acute or subacute or outpatient settings Be accountable for the clinical competency of early career physiotherapists / supervisees / physiotherapy students Ensure connection to and credibility with clinical staff on site and gain an understanding of the challenges and opportunities for clinical educative initiatives for each site Contribute to graduate entry curriculum development with our university partners in line with contemporary clinical practice Identify emerging and important questions in health professionals' clinical education About you Physiotherapist currently registered for practice in Australia (AHPRA) A commitment to Austin Health values: our actions show we care; we bring our best; together we achieve; we shape the future Significant experience in teaching early career physiotherapists as well as undergraduate and post graduate students Significant exposure to pedagogical theory and principles of adult learning Significant physiotherapy experience of working in a tertiary level hospital Excellent communication skills Proven capacity to successfully work as part of a multidisciplinary team Proven capacity to successfully work to enhance the physiotherapy team culture and environment Commitment to ongoing education / postgraduate education Demonstrated initiative, response to constructive feedback, problem solving skills and flexibility Our benefits Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
