Slalom_build is a loyal partner for our clients—and the greatest advocate for the future of our people.Principal – Platform EngineeringOur Platform Engineering (PE) team builds the secure, scalable, and reliable cloud platforms that our clients use to deliver amazing products and services to the world. Our people, usually coming from either a software engineering or infrastructure background, have some of the deepest cloud and DevOps expertise in the industry.As a Principal in PE you'll combine very strong cloud and DevOps architecture/engineering expertise with a collaborative and curious attitude to lead the delivery of awesome client outcomes. You'll lead projects from early workshops through architecture, delivery, and transition into operations. You'll help grow our PE capability and the Slalom Build business in Australia while mentoring our team members along the way.We want you to love your life and love your work, so to help with this we offer a range of flexible working options to help you find the right balance. We provide pathways for people to grow that are aligned to their interests; you won't find any glass ceiling for technologists here.What will you do?Deliver a wide range of project outcomes for clients across Cloud, DevOps, and Security disciplines.Work with clients to shape their Cloud, DevOps, and Security ideas into deliverable outcomes.Lead the delivery of large and complex Cloud, DevOps, and Security projects for clients.Act as a deep subject-matter expert and advise clients on all things Cloud, DevOps, and Security.Support the growth of our business through internal capability development and management.Develop delivery case studies, cloud architecture, engineering offerings, and technical artefacts.Help grow our market presence through involvement in communities, workshops, and authoring blogs.What will you bring?10+ years of experience delivering Cloud, DevOps, and Security outcomes on AWS (Azure and GCP are a bonus).Deep expertise, passion, and curiosity across Cloud, DevOps, and Security trends/technologies.A collaborative, logical, and pragmatic approach to solving business problems using technology.Very strong experience successfully leading the delivery of Cloud/DevOps project outcomes (ideally using Agile).Very strong skills architecting and engineering solutions using a broad range of AWS services.Strong skills in DevOps P+Ps and tools (SCM, CI/CD, IaC, config mgmt., observability, etc.).Strong skills in cloud security services and tools (AWS services, CSMP, CWPP, code security, etc.).Strong skills in scripting/programming languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go, etc.).Strong skills in cloud-native app architecture (Serverless, Containers, ECS/EKS, Docker).Please note that this role requires being based in Canberra, holding Australian Citizenship, and having Baseline Security Clearance.Our ValuesOur culture and values reflect each individual Builder.
